Calcium formate, the molecular formula ca(hcoo)2, has a molecular weight of 130.0. It is white or yellowish powder or crystal in appearance, nontoxic, slightly bitter in taste, insoluble in alcohol, soluble in water, and neutral in aqueous solution. The solubility of calcium formate did not change much with the increase of temperature. At 0℃, 16g/100g water; at 100℃, 18.4g/100g water; and at 400℃, it was decomposed by heating.

Calcium formate manufacturers analysts pointed out that calcium formate used in a variety of dry mortar, a variety of concrete, wear-resistant materials, floor industry, feed industry, leather.

In Europe, calcium formate is used in chemical raw materials, cement additives, leather tanning, silage and piglet feed additives.

At present, calcium formate is mostly produced by neutralization process, which has the disadvantages of high production cost and low efficiency. Domestic calcium formate is mainly used in piglet feed, feed consumption of around 200 tons/year, cement additive consumption is in the period of rapid development, leather tanning demand is still starting, the sale volume is not very large.

In recent years, the consumption of calcium formate in China has been increasing, up to 300,000 tons. With the development of animal husbandry in China and the high attention to environmental protection, formic acid will be more widely used in the fields of feed additives, leather, printing and dyeing. On the other hand, calcium formate is one of the traditional export products in China. However, the domestic production technology and equipment level of calcium formate are still backward, facing severe test in the competition. Therefore, to improve the domestic production technology level of calcium formate, expand device capacity, reduce material consumption and energy consumption, and improve product quality will be the priority of the industry development.
